The best headers for a 96 LT1.

Hi guys.I wanted for the longest time to put a set of headers on my car but I'm not sure which set would be the best.I heard JBA makes a killer set,but they seem rather pricey.Any one out there with any input? Please let me know,ok?

Hooker 2149 (with O2 bung, AIR pipes, and EGR, ceramic coated) These will let you pass emisions. I suggest a highflow catalytic converter. Catco or car sound are good free flowing converters. Also I have instructions if you want them on how to put the headers in. Also how to delete the A.I.R. It adds no horsepower but will clean up the engine bay and give you some weight reduction. Anything else you want to know about exaust I would behappy to help with.:D

FYI the hooker 2149s have no emissions, and the 2151 have emissions. A lot of LT1 guys like exotic muscle, linginfelter, but hooker or TPIS (basically same thing) will do you just fine. Stay away from Hedman. It comes to down price. Ive never heard of JBA. Who sells them?

Lingenfelter has the best headers but the ones I would reccomend are no longer i production. YES TRUST RASIN. STAY AWAY FROM HEDMAN HORRIABLE. Also get them coated so they wont rust or chip. Give you roughtly back 15 horsepower from the motor.

I believe the headers i have are Hooker 2061's. I couldnt find any long tubes, but then again, i guess i didnt search hard enough. You can see the 2061's here.

They produce a deeper sound, but not that noticable of a difference. I havent seen the power differences either because i got a whole lot of engine work done and still havnt tuned my car. Anyway, just thought i would throw in my 2 cents ;)

I've been doing some research and found some cool headers at www.melroseheaders.com They sell a system with long tube headers and hi flow cats that go as far as the mufflers. They leave that part up to you. Sell for around 1500 bucks. ouch!!!!
