Body panels, outer rockers
 

How are the outer rockers connected to the rest of the body or frame? I was doing a little heavy cleaning and noticed that in my door jambs are pop rivets. This appears to be how the outer rockers are attached. is this normal? The rivets are also on the vertical surface of the inner door jamb just below the latch. Some are painted body color some are not. Is this OEM are has someone been in these areas replacing panels? It is same on both doors.
