A/C Compressor removal/Installation(1990 converatble)
I need to replace my A/C clutch and bearing. I ordered a clutch plate, bearing and coil from NAPA. I also order the remover/installer tools from NAPA and they sold me tools for PA10. When I began to start the job I noticed that the remover and installer were obviously not right for my unit. The service manual says I have a Nippondenso 10PA20 (10 Cyl) compressor. I have been searching online for the right tools, but I am having no success. The service manual also states using "Clutch Plate Remover (J-37252)". Searching the internet for this part number resulted in no success either. Has anyone had any success with this task and do you know of a specific store or online sight to purchase.
Thanks.....
Thanks.....

That part number is a Kent-Moore tool and has to be ordered through local Chevy dealership. Why are you replacing clutch? New compressor prices through Carquest are not much higher than the clutch. Check it out.

Thank you for the tool part number info. I did price new and rebuilt complete compressors and your right about the price. I was trying to stay away from having to remove the compressor because I just recently paid over $150 to convert to R134a and I'm pretty sure it'll cost that again after installing a new unit. I have a co-worker that used to work on auto a/c systems and seems to be familiar with the Nippondenso compressors. I'll see hime early next week. If he recommends a full R & R, I guess I'll byte the bullet.

Keep in mind about a warranty on new or rebuilt compressor vs, the clutch is not. It works or don,t. I would think you lose the charge of 134 even when changing the clutch?
