C4 a/c question
hi, i have a 1988 C4 and just recently i have noticed that when i turn off the car my a/c fan stays running. the only way that i have been able to turn it off is to open the hood and unplug it from the fan motor. if anybody has any suggestions to cure this problem i would apprreciate any response. thank you.

RE: C4 a/c question
Cooling fan relay is probably hung up. It's on the fender well just below master cylinder. Try unplugging it.[8D]

RE: C4 a/c question
Mine did that to, but now does not work at all. One thing that you might try is to let it run for a while until the temperature drops and it may shutoff on its own.

same problem on my 93. but when i shut the car off it will switch to the defroster and floow setting. let the car sit for 20 minutes hoping it would shut off but nothing. car temp froped from 213-202 but this is the fan for the cabin. i unplugged the motor for now to not kill the battery, but i couldnt find any relay below the brake booster master cylinder. everything is way too tight to see under there.

a little more information. i drove her again to see if i could jar it loose (the relay) and no luck but i did notice that i was not able to control the speed of the fan (1-10) it was constant at the same speed

Does your car have automatic temp control? If so, blower module is bad.
|
yes sir it does. any way to test and make sure its the problem? called gm and they are say $193!!
|
Find a store that sells A/C Delco products and its available at a little cheaper price. If the blower won't shut off, the module is bad. Replaced them on several GM cars over the years.
|
there is no one local that sells them other than the dealership, but i did find it on corvettecentral.com for $70! so i jumped on that

got the module today and works perfect now. ac actually gets cooler now then before so it must have been slowly going out. thanks for all the help!
