C4 keeps stalling

I have an '87. It has a 600cfm carb .500 lift roller cam & roller rockers. Car starts & runs great except...every now and then it just QUITS!! Flat quits like somebody pulled a plug. Idling at a light or driving at hi-way speeds and anywhere inbetween. it acts like it ran out of gas. When it sits for several seconds it will restart and run great for days before it happens again. My mechanic checked voltage and replaced the alternator & battery. I picked it up and the next time I drove it the same thing happened again. Any ideas?
I can't see the fuel pump acting like that. Thanks in advance.

I know this is older but I just joined today. My camaro used to do that, it was getting vapor locked. When it did that all I had to do was remove the gas cap, replace it then it would start

Almost the same problem.

My 91 is doing almost the same thing, it keeps running, but not well, then if I let it sit for an hour or more it runs fine again. I tried starting it after 15 minutes and it still ran rough. How long does vapor lock need to releive itself, without touching the gas cap?

Vapor lock

I used to have a truck that did that. I found a plate that mounted between the manifold and carb that had the correct holes in it for the carb but was wider on all 4 sides made out of about 1/8" thick aluminum with a gasket on both sides. I'm assuming it directed the heat away from the carb that rose from the manifold.
Symptoms were much like what was described here and this got rid of my vapor lock problems.

Good luck

Try checking the fuel pressure with the engine running and after it has been turned off.
