Carpet: yank and clean...
I pulled the back in about 15 minutes (somethin' tells me the front ain't gonna' be that quick). It was not necessary to remove perimeter trim; only the storage tray lock, speaker grills, and the hardtop stow trim pieces.
The sections pull from under the perimeter trim without stressing anywhere. There were 4 zip ties under the rear trim piece, holding the upper edge of the carpet. I snipped them, removed the section, and the zip ties pulled right out. I don't know what they were tied around; I'll find out later. The back 'wall' section was glued to the sound barrier material. It separated without shredding the barrier or the carpet backing. OK... Can't load the pics. Too large. What's the size limit per pic? OOPS. THEY ARE BIG. New camera. Sorry... RE: Carpet: yank and clean...
ORIGINAL: 9340Vette Wooowwww! That looks like some work!!! The work is cleanin' the rear sections in the tub (SHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!). When someone sees the tub so clean, and the smell of laundry detergent, they're gonna' be suspicious. Gettin' the rear sections out took 15 minutes. The front is gonna' take a little longer. I can see that now. |
RE: Carpet: yank and clean...
Ohhh! I see! Well I know you are going to put down fresh sound deadner right! At least if you have gone that far.

ORIGINAL: 9340Vette Ohhh! I see! Well I know you are going to put down fresh sound deadner right! At least if you have gone that far. Today we pulled the front sections. Pics to come, during the game. Anyway, The barrier and foam sections stayed in as I pulled the carpet sections. All sections came free without rippin' factory cuts for odd stuff (seat bolts, etc). I laid 'em out to start launderin' on the concrete. An hour later, I stuck my head in the car to assess the car-nage. The 'aroma' was gone, and there was a new smell. Couldn't place it. The only other vehicle I bought new was an '02 bowtie 1 ton. Vinyl interior. The smell in the vette was the factory new smell. I can't go for the 15 year-old vette with 10,000 miles, that still 'smells like new'[sm=bs.gif]. Until now. So we are NOT gonna' swap the barrier material. Loadin' pics shortly, if ya' wanna' see...................... |

I don't think there's a emphysema patient anywhere in the world, 60 year smoker, that could hack up some jam like this...
...and it GRIPS the rug, too!!! Notice the nuts are sittin' back on the seat studs. ALWAYS, put every nut and screw back as soon as the part is out of the way. They won't get mixed up, or lost, and you'll remember sequences better. Trust me on that... |
