Choice for an upgrade

Hello again, guys.I'm wondering here...now that I've been blessed with the ability to pay my car off,now it's time for an upgrade or two.I've been thinking about a new cam.....nothing too rowdy, just something to make my car, well, respond a tad better than it already does.I just have a stock LT-1('96),so it must be OBDII compliant.I know of the "LT-4" cam,but what would any of you recommend?? I would really appreciate all,if any,of your inputs.Has anyone out there done the same thing? To what effect? Are you happy with your car if you've done this change? Well, just me again after a little while, hoping all of you on the forum are doing well.May God bless all of you......but don't forget to write to me with your opinions,LOL!!!! Always here for all,Joe.

Ok I have a couple of questions for ya. First is it auto or 6spd?
If its an auto, My 95 has a Comp Cam CC-305, 1.52 roller rockers, port matched heads and intake, long tubes, 52mm throttle body, and I have had both stock torque conv. and a 2800 stall. Let me tell you the stall kicks some major butt. The car has one heck of a rumble but not too obnoxious. I drove it from Waco,Tx. to Bowling Green,Ky. for the C4 Gathering and averaged 27mpg! The car has been tuned so I am sure that plays a major role in it.

If its a 6spd you have several choices to choose from. You can still go with the CC 305 or the LT 4 Hot Cam Kit. I know Summit,Jegs,Yearone and most other performance magazines advertise the kit for roughly 650.00 That includes cam, lifters, roller rockers, tiiming chain.
I have a 97 Formula that has the CC 306, 1.52 roller rockers, stage 3ported heads and all other bolt ons and this car freaking rocks!! It is a beast to drive so wouldn't really recommend if you are concerned with drivabilty. Hope this helps you out a little.

OK I started down this slippery trail of dollars for hp!!!
I have to admitt that everyone on this site has been fantastically patient with my numerous questions. This process all started with a suspected opti that was going.
I now have my engine torn down to the block and am looking at $5k in parts and labor (P&P Heads/Intake), in fact that guy that picked up the heads and intake said you have come this far you may want to pull the block and get is stroked to a 383. Which I am sure is only another 2k, and while I am at it the clutch could use replacing combined with replacing the 6 spd since it is cheaper to replace than rebuild.... see it never ends [sm=outcold.gif]
So here is my list...
Porting & Pollishing Heads and Intake Manifold
52mm Holly Throttle Body
30# Ford Bosch Fuel Injectors
Roller Lifters CC 850-16
Cam CC 07-503-8 XR276HR-12 224/230 112Deg rpm 1800-5800
Scorpion 1.6 Roller Rockers
Cloyes Double Roller Timing Chain
Melrose LT Headers with pipes & cats
MSD 8.5mm wires
Electric Waterpump
Opti II Distributor
Good luck... HP is not Cheap

Thanks,guys.....I have the auto on my '96.Performs solidly,by the way.I was also thinking of getting that programmer to do a few simple things, but not right now.Anyway, this hot cam,I still can't find it!!! AHHH!!! How much would that set me back?? Last I checked it was about $400 for the set with rockers and all....is that about right? Anyway, let me know if any of you have any more ideas, will ya? Oh,a few things I've done: Accel adjustable fuel pressure regulator, throttle body airfoil, the cold-air intake with the 3 K&N's,plus my Borla cat-back.Had a fresh tune-up,new water pump, distributor, tranny service, radiator service, all at 99,000 miles(have 114,000 now),plus my new brakes, wheels and tires.I'm blessed with such a reliable car,BUT I WANT MORE!!!! LOL!!! Talk with y'all soon!! Joe.
