Coolant leak into cylnder #7

1990 C4 Vin 8
I have a coolant leak into Cylnder 7. Compression test of 1,3,5,7 are all betwen 175 to 180.
Can it be a head gasketproblem?
Does anybody have any suggestions?
Thanks.

Sounds like cracked head or blown head gasket. Your going have to pull the head and give it a lookie look. The early aluminium heads were thin back in '86 were prone to cracking before their final production release. My point is the head is going to be inspected for a cracks near one of the valve seats. The leak most likely opens up when the engine is a running temp and closes up when the head cools.

You are probably going to need to have that head magnafluxed.

You may also want to look into the intake leaking. If you still have compression in the cylinder I would have to wonder if it isnt there. Check for coolant in the oil as well. In any case, if you are considering pulling the head, you have to pull the intake first which will give you an opportunity to check the condition of the gasket/seal in that area. Maybe, you wont have to pull the head.

I have coolant sitting where the intake manifold and head meet for that cylinder. Runs like crap as well so I'll be pulling it apart this weekend. Gaskets will be here next wed.
