desperate for help

I was driving my '96 LT1 about 30 mph when I got on the gas. I hit about 90mph and the let off. After that burst, the car started driving weird. It seemed to hesitate and lunge forward. It then seemed to get stuck and revved high. I was able to drive through my subdivision at around 30mph without touching the gas pedal. After getting home, I had quite a bit of trouble starting it and when it did start, it hesitated badly and revved high again. What happened? Please someone help. I ma taking it to the shop tomorrow, but I don't have a clue about mechanics and I don't want to be taken for a ride. If anyone has any idea, let me know. Thanks.

Sounds like possible fuel injector(s)!

How is your fuel mileage?

so, in nuetral the RPMs were still high? Sounds like one of the sensors on the intake side of the engine is malfunctioning and the ECM is trying to make up for it with higher engine speeds. When you turn the car off, does it just shut down normally, or does it make some noise under the hood? I'm not talking about "dieseling", but any kind of raspy intake sound or cough.

i agree that it does sound like a fuel delivery problem, either due to a bad sensor, or a computer issue. when you do drive it, does the exhaust seem very "rich", like the exhaust smells very strong? how high is the idle speed?

That sounds like an optispark to me. My old Camaro did the same thing and I have heard many people talk about that with their corvettes. I would have someone check your opti before trying to fix anything else.
