Help!!!

Hi,guys...here with another more pressing problem.,and here it is.My '96 has a security system problem....every now and then the car will not start, and the security light will stay on with the check gauges light on as well.I heard there's something called the CCM that seems to be under the dash that controls this system.Apparently,it has been discontinued by GM.The thing is,this has already happened 4 times this week...as a matter of fact,I lost a day at work yesterday because of it...The car eventually starts, but usually after sitting for a while...heck,I work 12 hours a day and it did it to me again today after sitting for that long...any ideas as to what is causing this?? The car runs great afterwards, still strong and all...but it's letting me down...would there be a solution to this problem?? BTW,I do have both keys and they do start the car...I just don't know where else to go...thanks for your help...Joe.

First thing I would do is hit the"search" function. Looks for "Vats".

You may have a dirty Pellet on your key or your ignition is faulty. Get the problem diagnoised thoroughly before you start replacing parts.

Someone will be along to guide you.

If there is a problem with your security system, the security light should light up or flash when trying to start it. It should set a code.

Hey guys..here's the thing..the pellets in both my keys are clean, and when I'm trying to start the car,the security light stays on.Plus, the funny thing is there are no codes stored either..this is a bit frustrating...but thanks, guys, for writing in with your ideas..I'll keep you posted.God bless..J

More than likely, your ignition key housing that has the reader in it to determine the resistance of the key is bad.
