hood Support

looking for a hood support for my 85, new tech at GM dealer had no idea how to lower hood with the support arm. So he did the old force it till it goes down! Did not find out until i got home and was checking my oil. dealer is having hard time finding part (out of stock) any ideas? old one is shot. any junk yards on the web that would have one? found some on e-bay but the person did not have a very good track record. my 85 is for sale and dont want to show off engine by holding up the hood! any ideas would be helpful. thanks

Hi,there! Have you thought about going to places like Eckler's,Mid-America,Corvette America or Corvette Central? I have a few of their catalogs and I do remember seeing hood struts for the C4.As a matter of fact, right now I'm looking at my new Mid-America catalog, and on page 159,sure enough, there they are.'88 to '96 telescoping,gas-charged support.Only $90.00.They also have a conversion kit for '85 to '88 to gas-charged for $179.00.You never know, you may still find what you need for your '85.I hope this helps!! Always,Joe.

ecklers and corvette america were out of stock. I was able to bend the old one back into shape, but i need to replace the rivets. Just need to keep on the dealer to get the new one, could be a real ass about it but my father in law works as the service dept and cant stir the pot to much!

If they broke it, give them hell. Your father in law is not at fault so no trouble for him. I say raise a allmighty hell till they fix it.:D
