Horns stopped working

Both my horns stopped working. I noticed the volume of the horns decreasing over time until one day they didn't make a sound. I pulled out both horns and tested them individually. Both did not sound. I was going to purchase two more horns to replace them but am thinking there could be something else wrong. Any suggestions?

the horns did not work when you put power right to them? why not find the CHEAPEST horn you can and try it...or do you have another vehicle? perhaps try one out of that in the vette?

Maybe a fuse blew.

It is definitely not the fuse but I will be working on it tomorrow and hope to provide you all with an update. Thanks for your help Patrick!

a simpler method of testing would be to grab a 12 volt bulb, or just remove on from the vehicle, take 2 pieces of wire stripped at both ends stick one end in the connector and the other to the tip and ring contacts of the buld and have a friend push the horn button much cheaper than a universal horn. a cheap probe type tester also works. all else fails break out the trusty vollt meter. always a sure thing ( and a sound envestment as well). if using a meter, hook the meter up to the connectors, get in the car tur the key to acc position, turn all other accessory items off ( ie radio). press the horn button, with the button pressed you shold read almost full battery potentioal on the meter indicating a good circuit. if it drops below 9.5 volts check the battery with the meter. if its at least 12 and the reading at the horn terminal is less than 9.5 trouble shoooting of the horn circuit may be required. once you test one side test the other they should be the same. if not your horn circut may be bad, but luckly it is a very simple circuit, pretty much a switch, fuse, relay and horns. not too complicated

On my 96 LT1 with 55K miles, it was the horns. 12V is being delivered to the connectors at the respective horns. I dissected one, and its' a crappy connection inside the "cleverly" designed molded plug. I hope no one got a promotion or patent off that. I guess, after all, they are still chevys.
