A.I.R. questions...no cats...exhaust leak???

I have been reading the old posts and have a new question. I cut out the cats...all three of them. I was looking at different mods and have a new question. I was reading about removing the A.I.R. pump and read a comment from Mech259. Since I have removed the cats that are fed partially from the A.I.R.does this mean that there is now an exhaust leak? Is it necessary to plug some metal pipe or something that was going to the main cat? I was looking for a project for the weekend and came across a post where Mech said to plug a metal pipe that was from the main cat I think. Anyone know about this?

I was wondering if I could have an exhaust leak. Thanks for reading and your comments.

You shouldn't have any exhaust leaking if you only removed the cats and replaced with pipe. The air injection system pumps outside air into the cats to aid in combustion. So now the A.I.R. will pump through the tubing and just dump it at the open ends of the tube where it used to tie into the cats.

If I remove the A.I.R. set up... then will I have an exhaust leak? Then I will have to plug that pipe?

Your pump system for the air injection probably won't pass inspection now there in the Houston area, since they have emissions testing, but the air pump pumps cool air into the cats to hel burn any unburnt gases and to help keep NOX down too. You will not have an exhaust leak, but it fhe pump is missing and the inspector is fairly sharp, NO PAss.
