Looking to buy a 92-96 C4 vette. questions...

Since I just bought a brand new Nissan Titan, I can't afford more than about 10 grand. So I am hoping to get a LT1 vette for around 10 grand.

$10 grand means it will probably be higher mileage. Maybe if I can get lucky, I can find one with under 100k miles on it. Definitely under 120k.
I have never owned a Corvette. Questions:

1.) What are common problems with C4's? I dont want a piece of junk.I am most concerned with expensive or hard to fix things like engine/transmission issues. I want a 6spd, butit will really come down to who has the right car at the right price, so I could end up with an4A. I had a friend with a '94 anditwas clean and ran as strong as a new car even at 130k miles last time I went in it. He bought his for $11k back in 2001 with 89k on it.

2.) In all seriousness, about how much should I pay for one? I am doing this on a budget, so I don't wana take a big hit on this if it turns out to be a lemon.

3.) I haven't asked my insurance yet, but what kind of insurance premiums do y'all pay? I am a 25 year old male with a perfect driving record.

cwb,
I bought a '99 convertible a few months ago. It looks like I'll have to give away the C4. No interest from anyone!
1!
I really like the C5 much better than the C4 - no comparison... the LS1 motor is amazing.

If cash ain't tight right now there CGeorge, wait until spring to put the machine on the market. That would also give you time to do house cleanin' - dirty grease from around the lube fittin's and the like, also the corner jam in the dash and center console... Those things can mean serious $ell points, that show extreme maintenence.

And chech out the local auto trader, and see how many vettes are on the blocks right now. I betcha' there's alot. If not, maybe give it a try...

Get your deductible set at $1000.

You will pay MUCH, MUCH less for the same coverage if you do. See for yourself.

THEN, find out exactly how much less you pay, and every penny, up to $1000, has to go in some account just for that. After that, you got more cash to drop new partson the car.
