New headliner (snappics)...
My headliner was sagging. I did this once on a '94, with school logo embossed onto new felt.
Had the How-To posted here, but it was before the server upgrades a few years ago. This was the old one: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-7...24/x00027a.jpg So again here: I put a butter knife to the edge, to get under it. Make sure to hold the knife flat on the edge, to not scratch... https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-h...June282014.jpg Then you can get a hand in. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-t...4/IMG_6562.JPG |
Once you get under the edge, ya' gotta' pull the fabric off of the panel with your fingers. Don't try to pull it by the edge of the foam board - it will break up.
Wear long sleeves! Go all the way around the edge, then work toward the center. (at this point, the edge DID break, and I had to go around the other way) https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-j...4/IMG_6563.JPG Lifted. Lots of glue at the center. https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-I...4/IMG_6564.JPG I'm goin' with C4 logo this time, instead of school logo. I have a couple more of these, if anyone wants one here; PM at me. http://www.corvetteforum.guru/upload...948de63f4a.jpg |
Once the old felt is removed, I put a roller with Acrylic Latex Black to the foam pad, to stop dust from falling through the felt, and to give a little strength to the pad.
I also glued a 3/16" styrofoam board, cut into sections, to the roof panel side of the foam pad. I'm looking for noise absorption too with 3" exhaust, and a HEAVY drone. Then I placed the felt, and flipped back the felt to apply glue to the lower half (using this for adhesive - http://hi.atgimg.com/img/p400/15460/720468368138_ca.jpg ). http://www.corvetteforum.guru/upload...9418b391dd.jpg Then the top half, http://www.corvetteforum.guru/upload...941c999477.jpg and allowed it to dry overnight. DO NOT PRESS DOWN TOO HARD - THE ADHESIVE WILL COME THROUGH THE FELT. You could see that in the 'Skully' '94 top... |
Then flip it, and cut about 3" around the perimeter.
http://www.corvetteforum.guru/upload...9447592d31.jpg The forward corner concave curves are tricky. I made 2 cuts in the apex of the concave curve, to about 3/8" of the edge. http://www.corvetteforum.guru/upload...9470adf9a3.jpg Flipped; check interior surface: (same snappic, #3, post 2 above) Now back up-side down, pull the tape, and glue the overlap... |
Glue the lip to the panel side - I'm using RTV Black:

Done.
Felt glue onto the roof panel: https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-5...4/IMG_6641.JPG and set into place: https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/--...4/IMG_6642.JPG I did not cut the overlap deep enough into the front corner concave curves, and I got an ugly buckle on the D side. And I placed a 3/16" styrofoam board glued onto the panel side of the pad, for extra exhaust drone kill. I have a glass top too, so I can measure interior sound with that top, and then again with the insulated Black top (when the rain stops)... |
