Rebuild Heads?

https://www.corvetteforums.com/micons/m11.gifGreetings:

Removed the heads from my 89, the motor has 133,000 with no major work ever done. I'm taking the heads down to have them checked for cracks, leaks and surfacing. Whatcan it cost to have thethe heads rebuilt?

Any opinion based on the current miles if I should have themre-built, or just have them checked and surfaced? The vette runs great, never burned any oil, just leaks. I plan on keeping the Vette for a few more years.

As always thanks

Usually, complete valve job runs $150.00 plus parts (valves, seals, guides) if needed. Always a risk to do a valve job on a high mileage engine, increasing compression, better seal. Might start forcing compression, oil past weak rings on worn cylinder walls. Then again, you might not have any problems. Good Luck. [8D]

:DGot the heads back from the shop the other day, cost was $160, they look great.

Question: when installing the head gasket, fel pro, do I need any gasket sealer?

If the gaskets are fiber and not metal, then you do not need any sealer. Make sure you put them on with the writing up and check all your ports for clearance.
