RE: Replace the battery

I just did this to my 90 roadster. Turn the front wheels to the left. Remove the the torque screws hold the front on the body panel that gives access to the battery. Remove the bolt on the top of the panel thats near the door jam. Lift and slide the panel out. Carefully disconnect the + and - cables. Remove the bolt and black rubber piece in the back of the battery holding it to the tray. Slide the battery out. Becarful with the wires behind the battery when sliding the battery out and putting the new one in. I'm dealing with a shorted wire issue. Good luck.

RE: Replace the battery

As a one week Vette owner, I had to replace the battery in my '93 this weekend and after pondering the fact that there was a lot of stuff above the battery I knew there had to be a better way. And just as indicated in the above posts, remove the body panel and 20 mintues later, it is complete. When working in tight space with battery connections, always disconnect the negative terminal first and attach it last. Also, dielectric grease is a good thing to add when using screw in battery posts. Just my $0.02

Make sure you get the battery panel cover back on straight and correctly because if you don't you will know it in a big way when you open/close the driver's door.
