Replacement battery for PKE remote

I have two PKE remotes for my '96 that I am "trying" to replace the batteries. The remotes are made by Lextron Products and have only one grey button for locking/unlocking.

The original batteries in both remotes are CR2450, which I've been able to find just about anywhere that carries watch/jewelry batteries.

The problem I've having is that CR2450 batteries that I've found today do NOT fit into the device. When comparing them against the orignal batteries in my remotes, it's very obvious that the battery specs on this are not the same. I've tried different brand names (Sanyo, Energizer, etc.) and they all don't fit. I've also taken it to the local GM dealer to have them look at it and we tried their stocked replacement battery for the device and they also came to the same conclusion as I did - the CR2450 batteries today are not the same as that of my original battery. It's slightly different enough to prevent it from locking into place.

Further research on the internet found that other people claim that the CR2430 is the correct replacement battery, which is not according to the dealer and what I've found in both of my remotes. I've tried the CR2430 just for the heck of it and foun that it's too small.

I'm totally baffelled on this one.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
