Tire size

Anyone know if I can safely put a 315 size tire on the rear of my 92 with stock 9.5 width wheels? Thanks for the input.:)

I hope you get some responses to this one. I plan to do the exact same thing in the Spring. Good luck......

Hello, guys.I think you can put that size tire on your car,but ifI were you,go with the '11 rim.Like the Grand Sports i have on my '96.the rims are about $500 each(without tires,of course),and you don't really need to get the GS's.You can get the saw-blades and the silver 5-spoke wheels in that size too.And they WILL fit your car.Good luck to you.

Standards published by The Tire and Rim Association for a 315 width in a 40 aspect ratio (315/40) call for a rim width from 11-12 inches. 9.5 inches is far too small.

A 9.5 inch rim is pretty small for 315s. Generally, you can figure a 1/2 inch per side over the limit. 9.5 inches is 241 mm. An inch (two half an inch overlaps on each side) is another 25.4 mm for a total of 265::: basically a 265 of 275 is about as big as you should go.A 315 is an inch and a half beyond that, so I would expect problems.

by the same computation, an 11" rim is just about perfect for that size.
