Tires

I'm installing 1990 wheels on my 1987. I contacted Corvette magazine to find out which tire company gives the softest ride. We are highway cruisers and retired so we are looking for a softer ride than the Goodyears we have on now which are made of concrete. The mag suggested Michelin pilots which are $285.00 each. Can anyone out there recommend a tire that rides as well and won't cost all of my monthly SS check?

Hey Chief, you must have been USAF. Me too. 148 TRG MN ANG then changed missions to 148 FTG retired Nov 2001 E-6. My 93 has Firestone Firehawks on it installed by previous owner. Personal preference I don't mind a hard ride, but a buddy has the same car and he put on some brand I can't recall at this tme but the tires have a stange tread pattern. He thought the Goodyears were too firm. He says they are softer but he has the Z87 option, so who knows. I'll get back to you about the brand and if he thinks the ride is any softer.

I have the Cooper, Cobra GT's, nice ride. All weather tread.

I checked and they are Bridgestones. He said they are much softer and also quieter than the OEM Goodyears he took off. By the way, sorry for thinking you were USAF. I knew Master Chiefs are USN. Chief Master Sgts are AF. Too many Bud Lites fogged my thinking process yesterday, I guess.

I'm a retired Coast Guard Masterchief (E-9). Thanks for letting me know about the Bridgestones. I'll check them out.
