Turn signal blown fuse

Anyone had a turn signal fuse burn out on an 89? I disconnected the back up light at the trans to eliminate that circuit. The fuse blows within minutes or hours after inserting a new one. Checked all the light sockets and checked for broken wires. Could it be the flasher or the turn signalswitch?
Happy FathersDay to all you dads.:)

RE: Turn signal blown fuse

Yep, having similar problem. My tail lights blow a fuse when using the blinker. I found a thread on another corvette forum from over a year ago with a guy having the same problem. His ended up being a worn wire/connection in the steering column. Once he took the column apart and fixed it, no more problems. I have a week off from work in a couple weeks and that's exactly what I'm doing. I've check all connections, bulbs and wires I can get to and have found nothing, so I don't have much choice left. Another mechanic had suggested that is a fairly common problem with 80's gm vehicals that had tilt steering.
