White smoke out of exhaust

Put new head gaskets on TPI injection engine for vapor coming out of exhaust. Still had the problem but noticed one of the cylindars was sleeved. Decided to replace with new block and heads and used guts from old engine which had been rebuilt 1000 miles ago. We also used the stock intake which water does go through near the front two cylindars and the back two. Drove maybe 100 miles and is smoking again and overheating with new 3 core aluminum radiator which was running between 190 and 200 till it started smoking again. My question has anyone had trouble with an intake leaking water into a cylindar on one of these motors for we basically changed everything else with all new gaskets...

Welcome to the forum.

IIRC, you are supposed to use sealer on the intake gaskets to prevent the coolant from finding its way into the engine internals. I experienced that problem on a '88 IROC-Z.

Hello 73 Shark, thanks for your responce. We did permatex the gaskets and wondering if perhaps intake could have been warped some and the leak returned. We had replaced engine block and heads and using the same intake that we had the same problem with other engine. I guess we will pull plugs out and try to determine witch cylindar is getting the coolant and pull the intake to see if there is evidence of a leak. My buddy is checking for he somewhere has an intake that is for that engine.

Another possibility is that the heads have been machined and the intake will need to be match machined to fit properly. I assume that everything has been properly torqued. ;)

Planning on tearing into this project when weather warms up a bit and will keep you posted what we think can be the problem. Yikes what a mess....within the next two weeks will start this project and appreciate your input...
