Will a 85 clear top fit a 95 coupe?
 

Any help on this is appreciated. I don't have a clue but I am wondering.

Hello,Ernie.I'm Joe,at your service.It seems the targa top on a '85 will NOT fit a '95,from what I have gathered from my books.That's because they actually re-engineered them to a point;the later C4's have a much better-fitting top that may not accept an earlier one.You MAY be able to slide it in place,but you will not be able to secure it properly.Please be very careful as you might have problems securing it in place compared to the newer,updated model top.I sincerely hope I have been a tad bit of help;please let me know what you discover about your car,ok?Always everybody's friend; Joe. There were three different versions of the top that had different mounting brackets. The 84-86E, 86L-88 and the 89-96 version. HOWEVER, there is a kit that allows you to put earlier versions of the tops on the later C4 and vice versa. I believe Ecklers sells the kit.

I agree on the kit but I HAVE HEARD, that is hard to install and expensive. Cant speak from experience though.

Just for information I called Ecklers and they have kits for 95 to 85 but not 85 to 95 so I guess that's the deal.
