Does a kit exist to installa fixed Z06 type headlight onto the C4 type Corvette (1985)? I don't like the popups.

 

I saw a kit in one of the Corvette catalogues. I can't remember if it was Eckler's, Corvette Central, Corvette America, or MidAmerica Motorworks. It replaced the flip ups with fixed lightsand clear plastic covers. I think it was called LeMans style. (All these companies are on the internet, too.) The kit cost about $1100 last year and that was just for the parts. I'd go look but I'm pretty sure I threw the catalogues away by now.

 

From my experience, CHICKS dig the pop-ups.

I have been told, REPEATEDLY, that my baby is a "chick magnet" and when the lights roll up I always get a ooooohhhhhh[8D]

Lol i'll 2nd that, when I used to get around in the C3, the pop ups were a big draw card I used to have them up even in the day time just for looks.. and I remember when I was little thinking that a sports car wasn't a sports car without pop up lights [8D]Its against the law for manufactures to make cars withthem now [:'(]

Yeah hence why you dont see manufacturers bringing cars out with them, and any that were pop-up have become standard.
hehe I dont know about mozzies but its the stupids at road safety that got their claws in, the reason they have pretty much been outlawed is because of pedestrian safety, if you hit a person with a pop-up its not pretty, so lights have to be designed to be pedestrian friendly... Dont know why, if your hit by a car anyway your going to be a bit buggered... R.I.P pop-ups

 

They are not against the law. Internationalized ECE auto safety regulationsset new standards and regulations to help protect pedestrians from things that stick out on cars. These standards have made it hard and expensive for manufacturers to comply with so in 2004 the Corvette and the Lotus Espirit were the last production cars to incorporate these headlights. It was the final production years for the C5 and Espirit as well.

 

Your right of course, Im talking about in this country Im not sure of the legality issues of other countries though, although these days they carry the stigma of looking "dated"...

Lol if you think thats silly you want to tryother "legalities" with cars in this country, here its technically illegal to raise a car anymore than 10% over its factory power limit, Pod filters are illegal, Extractors (headers) are Illegal, anything over 96 decibels is illegal, aftermarket seats, Blow off valves, LHD cars not 30years old or older, anything at all mounted on the dash, aftermarketlights other than red on the rear, HID's,.. you name it, its Illegal.. Gets me so boiled [:@]Seems you guys can do just about anything to a car..
