1998 Corvette w/40k miles leaking gas! Any ideas?
 

My brother in laws 98 c5 coupe with 40k miles is leaking gas (or so he says.) I believe he said the leak seems to be under the rear of the car, and he has just let it sit for about 6 months without driving it because of this. Problem is that I live in Dallas and he is in St. Louis, so before I head up there to fix it, I am wondering what could possibly have gone wrong with this car. I have never heard of a late model car like a Corvette with such low milage and easy driving having a fuel leak.

So, if anyone has any ideas, let me know, I am not sure if this is a fairly common occurence or not.

i would need to know a little more info, is it leaking all the time or just when its running and from where exactly. there is very limited on what it could be at the rear, just lines connectors or filter. the connectors are plastic snap together type so i would check those first, but without an exact location i really cant help much.

Okay, seems that the leak is coming from the front half of the car. Supposedly makes a puddle under the engine, or in that area. He complained that the car began smelling like gas and was hard starting, then it got so bad he had to park it.
