4 point harness

i've been looking online and am having trouble finding a 4 point harness setup for a C5 convertible. the only thing i've seen is a roll bar for the coupes. obviously with the convertible, i dont want the full roll bar (dont think it would work anyay). anyone know of a link with the setup im looking for or have any ideas? thanks

RE: 4 point harness

Well, I have seen a full roll cage in a convertible (I am sure the top would not go up over it), but it was necessary to meet requirements at the track, and it did make a big difference in chassis stiffness (heavily over-powered/modded cars with drag slicks tend to visibly bend themselves you can see twisting and distortion of clearance along doors, rockers, etc.,when launching hard). The roll cage wasn't pretty though.

Frankly, I think you will find that you don't need a four point harness at an sanctioned track where you don't also have to have a roll cage: without the latter you will not be allowed in a class race where you need the former. This is one reason you don't see convertibles in the really low ET classes, the other is that coupes and FHCs have greater chassis stiffness and people choose them for drag cars and track cars.

RE: 4 point harness

Every track day I've been to requires convertibles to have at least a roll hoop.
Also, you don't EVER want a harness with the shoulder strap mount points below your shoulder lever. In the event of bad sh- stuff happening they can cause spinal compression injuries that will definitely ruin your life.

Also, does anyone even make a 4 point harness anymore? If you're driving hard enough to need a harness you want at least a 5 point to keep you from submarining if bad things happen.
