99 C5 Shocks
I have the magnetic ride I would like to change over to regular shocks I have ordered the by pass parts what are good shocks for the car

Welcome to the forums. As a general rule the more you pay for a shock the better the shock. Depending on the performance you want makes the choice. Drove an 05 once with magnetic ride and compared to older corvettes thought it felt like driving a cadillac.

when the car was newer i tried all the settings and could not tell the difference in any of the setting. Now i need shocks i didnt think the magnetic shocks are worth the money to buy new ones

True they do wear out, Many choices. C6Z06 $250, Koni FSD $800, Bilstein HD $400, and Pfadt Adjustable $900. Many places to look for good deals, Carid, Amazon, Rockauto, throw a dart..

thank you Thomas I will look into one of these

Ive read great things about the c6 z06 swap/replacement for the c5 and actually I just ordered a set for my 02 (wo/magnetic) ride. Im excited for them to get here so I can get them installed, Where,s that darn fed-x truck ?? lol :D

hey there Rlsmith2592, just wanted to let you know I did the swap this past saturday and it is pretty easy and an amazing difference, the c6 z06 shocks are beefier and indeed a straight up swap. My old stock shocks were toast and the ride was pretty bad but now its like a new car. the removal and install was about 3 hours total including time for a sammich. hope this helps.
happy vetting |
That's Good to know, the originals are only good for 50 or 60K miles which is sad and expensive to replace..

heres a pic of the stock shocks I took off, 02 c5 with 300 miles shy of 100k.. I honestly dont know how I managed to even drive the car with these, the ride was really bad

They look like they have seen better days. Evidence of leakage, it's time..
