C5 Shorty Headers

Hello All,
As most people would agree... long tube headers are the way to go on just about any vehicle. However, in my case, I wanted to work with what I had (since it did not really cost me anything - it came with the car). The C5I purchased a few months ago already had a Corsa cat-back exhaust and X pipe (It is actually a "mid-section" X pipe connected directly after the cats to the "cat-back" esxhaust. Not wanting to buy new high-flow cats or do any welding, I elected to buy shorty headers, despite everything posted about the minimal power gains (and proven dyno graphs for LT headers). I purchased and installed the Polished Ceramic coated BBK shorty headers (took about 5.5 hours) without incident. The only item missingfrom the hardware kit was an M6-1.25 nut for the oil dipsticktube.

The fit and finish of these headers is quite good. The O2 sensors fit with no problem and the collector angle(s) was just right. I also reused the OEM exhaust manifold gaskets with good results even though the BBK's came with new exhaust manifold gaskets, which were fiber / metal based. In addition, I modified the OEM air box to make it more like the ZO6 air box, whichhas a larger opening. Although I still need a tune to free up a few horse power, I can tellquite a difference withtheshorty header and air box mod. Maybe not as much as LT headers, but definately an improvement in throttle response and general "get-up and go".

For only $500 and an air box mod it was worth it for me.
