Default C5 auto tranny overheat

!997 Auto Tranny temperature on 'XXX" after cold engine start. Oscillated during driving from normal to overheat to 200f+ daily.
Can it be replaced without removing tranny?

Welcome to the forum.
Not sure what the normal transmission temperature would be but since the engine typically runs at 200 degrees, then 200 doesn't seem high. So I'm guessing you're thinking that the sensor is bad and needs to be replaced? Not having ever seen a C5 on the lift, I really can't answer the question is it replaceable on the car. Maybe someone else can pick this up and answer your question.

THANKS for attempting a answer. Scared to call a dealer. Always say, "bring it in and we look". Keep it a week and always BIG BUCKS. Sometimes a simple answer and still BIG BUCKS.
