how much to rebuild?
 
How much would it take to rebuild the ls1 if i did it myself? Who sells rebuild kits? Any help would be appreciated

It depends on how comprehensive the rebuild is - what is needed and what you do. Is it just the headYou can do the cheap route for maybe $460 in parts if you cut every corner and buyeconomy parts, etc., then whatever you need for valve work would be on top of that, but if the engine really needs a rebuild because it is badly worn, it will get more expensive. If you need to true up the bores and do major head work like replacing valve seats and guides, etc., then you are looking at maybe $1500 in parts and machining labor. At that point I would replace the block and pistons, etc., and maybe look at just getting a premium aftermarket short-block.
