LOW FUEL?!?!?!!!!!

I filled up yesterday, and went driving around while it still was almost nice. Then with i was about almost to 3/4 tank the check gauges light came on and the gas gauge was at E. So i pulled my car into my garage, checked for any kind of fuel leak. Everything looked good. so i turned off the car. and then restarted it, and same thing. Then i turned it off again and restarted it again and then the level was back up at 3/4. Any ideas??

RE: LOW FUEL?!?!?!!!!!

I have the same problem with my '97. It's a faulty fuel sending unit. One or both of the units in the gas tank have to be replaced. (The C5 has a saddle shaped tank and two separate fule sending units.) I was quoted about $550 for replacing one and about $900 if both need replacing. So far, I haven't pulled the trigger, waiting to see if there was a cheaper solution via DIY. In the meantime, I use the trip odometer as a backup, resetting it when I fill up.

RE: LOW FUEL?!?!?!!!!!

I've had the samething happen a few times. In the February issue of Corvette Fever a reader letter said that:
"A simple solution is to change to Chevron, BP, or Shell gasoline. The additives in these gasolines work to clean the fuel-sending unit. Thousands of Corvette Forum members have tried this simple method to correct the issue referenced. To my knowledge, it has worked 100 percent of the time."
I havn't tried switching fuel yet so I don't know if it will work, but it doesn't hurt to try.
