Roll Bar ??????

Hello boarders;

I always know where to turn to when I have a question...to all of you! Hubby is hell bent about me getting a roll bar for my '03 convertible. I'm not sure how I feel about it. I don't street race, I hardly even speed (ok, maybe once in a while) He say's it will save my life, if I ever get flipped, my theory is, if I get hit that hard or my car gets flipped, I'll die anyway. Looking for comments, maybe pictures of a '03 with a roll bar. I have looked in all the Corvette books that I have, and I can't seem to find them. (See I don't think it's natural for Vet's to have roll bars) Also, I wonder who in the world would install such a thing.
Thanks in advance for all your help.

It is very difficult to flip or roll over a 'vette. You can slide it and etc., but flipping it is just damn difficult. If you get hit from the side hard enough to flip the car you have more serious problems.

I think it is unnecessary.

Still, they makes some fairly attractive rollbars that fitt behind the seats, two separate ones that blend in behind the seats, just about seat high. One thing to realize is that everyone else can see the rollbar and most everyone assumes it means the car is set up to race, and wants to . . . you will get more young punks in ricers and grungy old Camaros with loud mufflerstrying to race you, etc., with the roll bar.

I completely agree with Lee on this topic.

Sure its not very easy to slide a vette sideways and into a roll but what if the car leaves the road and goes up an embankment?IMO you can never have enough safety equipment in a car as powerful as a Vette.

I tend to drive fast fairly often and because of that I dont think i would own a convertible period but if i did, it would have a bar.

Autopower carries roll bars for Vettes. I've installed one of their bars in another car I had and the quality and fittment was pretty good. I am considering one for my Z06.As Lee stated you will however have every hot shoe in town revving on you.
