Safe to lift from here?
 

hay everybody! i need some quick assistance...i'm attempting to jack the front of my C5...i built 3" tall wooden steps and bought a low-profile jack just to be able to get underneath and i STILL can't get to the jacking points. i noticed a part of the frame that runs closer to the front...it looks to be less than a foot in front of the actual jacking points...more specifically, right in front of the spring.

my question is: is it safe to place the jack in the center of that section and jack up the car so i can place jackstands at the actual jacking points?

i placed the jack there and took some load of the tires....everything seems fine but i better get a second opinion before i do something that may make me want to hurt myself...[&:]

well i answered my own question....i lifted the car from there and had no problems...i successfully lowered my c5...so it is no longer a 4x4...the damn car was lifted as high as possible...now it's sitting pretty...although i'd like it lower...i'll wait to see how much it settles (if at all)...

I took some 6x6 wood and made a couple of ramps. This gets my fron end up high enough so that I can get a normal floor jack under the front cross member. Once I jack it up, I place Rhino ramps under the wheels. I also have ramps for the rear, since it needs to be a bit higher to get the floor jack under the rear cross member.
