RE: What is best brand of tires for Vette?
You're right. If I can get good wet performance without sacrificing any dry performance then of course I would choose that tire.
It looks like the Yokohama had very good dry performance. Has anyone used these? BTW, you can download the test from the TireRack website: http://www.tirerack.com/images/tires...y_f1_gs_ds.pdf |

I had yokos before I got the bf goodrich tires. It's not even close, my yokos would break free very easily on dry pavement. I tried doing some hard launches with my bf goodrich tires and could barely make them break free.

I recently (about 3 months ago) bought some Sumitomo HTR Z II tires. They grip much better than the stock Goodyeaer Eagle F1 GS EMT tires that were on it before. They are also 1/3 of the price. Not sure if they are better than others mentioned, but not bad for the price.

I am in the minority when it comes to tires for the Corvette. I am more leery of running my Vette on anything other than OEM rubber. However, when/if I make a change away from OEMs, you can't beat GY GS-D3s.

I agree. If you want the very best, nothing beats the GSD3s.

If people hate the "Run Flats" so much, why do you think Chevy keeps them as standard equipment on Corvettes?

RE: What is best brand of tires for Vette?
If youraceor go through tires fast, Kumho'sare budget minded and perform well.

My take on run flats is that in a car with no spare, no jack, no lug wrench, etc. IMHO, OEMs don't ride harsh. No annoying road noise to me. Run flats=security/safety Non run flats =softer ride a little more performance To each his/her own. |
