Winter Driving
 

Fall is here and Winter will follow soon. I am currently depating purchasing an old banger to get me through the winter. However my vette does seem pretty well behaved and I haven't had any issue even in wet weather so I am wondering if this measure is necessary. Being from the Seattle area the winters aren't really that harsh and I would expect maybe 1 or 2 days with a little snow. Does anyone have any horror stories or have driven the corvette throughout the winter to date? I figure getting some advice upfront maybe better than waiting until I am sliding helplessly into oncoming traffic.[X(]

Your most important component will be the tires. Most ultra high-performance tires are great on dry and some, even on wet roads (GSD3s). However to drive on snow safely, you should consider all-weather tires such as these:

I strongly suggest getting a beater to drive on snowy, icy days.

If you want to go in snow the secret is to get narrower wheels and narrow snow tires to go with them. But assuming you buy new wheels and skinny snow tires, and if you have wheel sensors and all get a new set for your narrower wheels, the car will still not travel that well in the snow"-- 'vettes just aren't designed for that, too low, etc., and there is always the chance someone will slide into you when the streets are slick, and you will definately get the car dirty, and snow and grim all over the interior. And then, of course, on those nice, sunny, dry winter days, you can't enjoy your vette because it has skinny snow tires on it . . . .

I WOULD most DEFINATELY PURCHASE that old banger as you say.
Rain and our cars is ok, but Snow on the other hand, I just don't think snow and a Vette go hand in hand.
Besides with the Beater you buy you can play bumper cars with the other drivers instead of them playing bumper cars with your Vette.! :D:D:D

Thanks for the feedback guys. I was hoping that having an 'artic white' vette would somehow help me. I guess I had better start saving and stop buying accesories for the newest member of the family - lol.

No knocked the ins. down to comp. cleaned and polished her up, covered her up, in the shop for the winter. I'll drive my GMC Z71 for the winter.:(
