Hello. New member, first post.
It appears that the 2012 GS that i purchased last summer has a wheel that is slightly out of round so that at speed there is a noticeable shimmy, not terrible but it's there. I've had it to the local racing shop who sent me to the big city wheel repair place and after $100 they were not able to repair it although it got a bit better. so it looks like i will have to replace the factory wheel after all. i'm wondering if anyone can give me a resource for replacement wheels. The other question i have is, is it ok to replace an original factory wheel with a similar aftermarket wheel so that I'll have three factory wheels and one aftermarket wheel on the car?

I Googled OEM Corvette wheels and found a plethora of sites that sell them. As to whether they would be physically equivalent to the same load specs as to the original wheels, you would have to ask them.

Of course you can always go to a dealer and order one since it's a only a few years old. Be prepared to write a big check.

 

This seems to be a common problem. In the interest of lower unsprung weight the wheels keep getting lighter. Make sure you carefully inspect wheels on a car before purchase.

 

You will probably have to take it to a place that specializes in wheel repair. They will probably strip the wheel, repair the pitting, and then recoat it and it will look like factory original again. It probably helps if you live near a large metropolitan area also.
