Well, I upgraded my C5 ZO6 to a B&M. It is just a matter of feel, and application.

Initially it was very stiff, tight, hard to shift. After about 500 miles it wore in. It is very precise, slightly shorter throw. A stock shifter feels very sloppy by comparison now.

If you are into drag racing, it is really made for that: the shifter "likes" to go into third - in fact sometimes it goes into third when I am trying to downshift into first as I slow for a light, etc. You can snap the 1-2, and particularly the 2-3 shift very fast. Going into 5th or 1st takes a very deliberate action: any time the shifter is pushed forward, it wants to pick 3rd, (which, in a drag race, is the only time you'll push the shifter forward, so you don't have to worry about missing a shift).

That seems about right for the lower gears. Actually, the "push" to the right for 5th and 6th seems farther over than stock. It takes a real effort -- shove to the right, then forward, rather than just a short "shift" as I used to, to get it into 5th now. That's fine with me, because it slams into 3rd in an eyeblink from 2nd, with no chance any more of hitting 5th instead.

I highly recommend the shorter throw, it just allows you to bang into those gears a lot faster than the stock shifter will let you.
