C6 Horsepower Upgrades
 
Just wondering if anyone could advise me on what upgrades give you the best bang for your buck ? I have a stock 05 C6 and sometimes consider doing minor things to it to increase the horsepower not that it doesn't have enough.

Nitrous is always a goodbang for your buck, although eventually it will surpass that idea when you refill the bottle a few times. It costs about 50 bucks for 10 lbs. of Nitrous depending on where you shop. Ten pounds would get you maybe 5 or 6 quarter mile runs depending on your spray times and amount of purging. But, I for the most part like to stay away from nitrous. Not that its bad, but I really like the status of "all throttle and no bottle." For a lot of options... check out www.westcoastcorvette.com their inventory is pretty big and they have quite a few power adding packages/products.

Its the same on just about every car, including the 'vette.
Long tube headers, cold air induction, oversize cats, and a cat back, with a good ECM re-programming, provide good results, are easy to bolt on, and run about $50 per real, verifiable RWHP, installed.

After that, you need to have a plan - the plan is the most important thing -- know where you want to end up and buy and build to that: you can stop there with your additional 30 Hp or so, or go down one of several routes depending on how much you want to spend 1) a cam or high ratio lifters for an additional 20 HP or so, 2) heads and cam kit plus intake manifold etc., for about $4000 installed, giving you about 65 HP more but maybe less torque and driveability, 3) heads and cam and stroker short block for about $7,000 installed and 90+ Hp with good low end torque, 4) turbos or a SCr, anywhere from $6000 to $12,000, taking the car on up to that max you should expect of the stock engine before it blows (just shy of 500 RWHP), or (3) and (4) together - the sky is the limit of $$ and HP.
