Less miles or less money?
 

First post here. Have searched for this topic without success. Is a "general" car question but thought it necessary to pose in car-specific forum:

I am about to purchase a 2008 3LT convertible. Have it narrowed to two in the US. Both almost identical BUT...

ONE has Magnetic Ride Control, Z06 wheels and only 18,000 miles.

THE OTHER has BASE suspension (which I LIKE), CHROME five-spoke wheels and 36,000 miles.

The lower-mileage car is dead-on $5,000 more. Not a lot but JUST OVER the northern limit of what I wanted to spend on the car.

Assuming I can afford the difference (I CAN...but is a stretch) do I spend the extra $ on the Magnetic Ride Control and less-milage car or do I save $5,000 and get the 36,000-mile car? Is the 18,000 mile spread and the suspension package worth $5,000?

I KNOW that is a personal decision and one I will be making alone in the end. Just would love anyone to weigh-in. Would appreciate the input. Thank you!!

JMO. I would go for the lowest price, if they both seem to be in the same condition. Just think what you could do with the 5000... upgrades, a tank of gas..etc. :D Again JMO.

You have to decide what's more important mileage or money. Even for the higher mileage car, it has only averaged 12k miles per year, depending on when it went into service. Like the previous poster said, if you choose the lower price car, more money in your pocket to do personal upgrades if you want. Consider tires, brakes, maintenance, etc.

On the other hand, the lower mileage car may still have some warranty left, depending on when it was put into service, however both should still have the remainder of the powertrain warranty, which I believe was five year and 100,000 miles.

Your choice, but whatever you do, choose and get out there and drive!
