Options C6 Convertible
I am shopping (and trying to keep the price of the car in check). At this point, know a few things I "must" have: manual, Z51, 3LT. Outside of those, looks like the best bang for the buck is to choose the exterior color (if you really like Monterey Red: pay the $750) and interior (if you really like the 2 tone. pay the $695). Other items don't seem like they are a relative value (DVD, Onstar, Chrome Wheels). For as much as I would use DVD and Onstar, hard to justify the added expense. I'm all for nice wheels, but the $1850 chrome upgrade seems pricey - what would a set of quality aftermarket wheels cost that would make your car more unique? Just want to see if you folks feel the same way - let me know what you think!

I am in the same "boat" and have to agree with your reasoning on this one.

Brian after market wheels will be much cheaper than ones from the dealer. MUCH cheaper.
You can check out www.tirerack.com or have you checked out Ebay http://search.ebay.com/ws/search/Sal...&fcl=3&frpp=50 |

Well, some aftermarket wheels are less, although I think a good set will cost you $1200+ regardless, but some cost much more (check out Fikse and HREs on Lingenfelters or anyone else's site, or the top end BBS wheels). Tirerack and discount tire have a bunch.
My experience in a lot of reserach and buying three or four sets of aftermarket wheels is: 1) if you want just good looks (same size as stock) yoou can find nince looking custom wheels for $250-$325, maybe 400$ if you want really a good special look. 2) a diameter of an inch or two more (i.e., 19s instead of 18s, 20s instead of 19s) costs only a little more. 3) width costs a lot: upgrading from 10 inch wide rear wheels to 12 or 13 inch costs a lot: you can pay up to $1300 per wheel. 4) light weight costs a lot, many aftermarket wheels that look aggresive and nice are actually heavier than stockk. |
