Question regarding locking steering column

I just purchased a new 2007 convertible (thanks to the input of several folks on this forum) and noticed that the steering column does not lock after turning the car off and removing the fob from the car. It's a 6 sp automatic and the shift level locks in the "park" position but the steering wheel can still move. I'm used to most cars having the steering column lock after removing the key and moving the steering wheel slightly.

The manual makes no mention of it and after calling the chevy assistance line, they couldn't answer the question and referred me to my local dealer where I purchased the car. I called the dealer and since they only sell one Corvette a year, they were uncertain and said they needed to research it.

Can anyone offer some insight? Did the 2006's sterring column lock after removing the fob on 6 sp automatics?

Thanks in advance,

mrbugs

RE: Question regarding locking steering column

Just checked my 06 automatic & it doesn't lock in the way my Tahoe locks...in other words it doesn't click & lock. The steering wheel still moves slightly BUT you can't turn it enough in either direction to move the wheels.
