2007 Z06 Question

I recently purchased a 2007 Z06 having previously owned a 2002 Z06. After driving the car for 20+ minutes I notice that the transmission tunnel gets noticeably (perhaps more than noticeably) warm/uncomfortable on the driver's side. Is this a common trait or is it something I should see the dealer about? I never noticed this on my 2002. TIA.

RE: 2007 Z06 Question

This is common, in fact, certain: it happens on all of them. There are upgrades that install more insulation or you can just get under the car and add it yourself -- but, in the tradition for the first Cobras: you wanted a hot car, didn't you?

Interesting. I have owned an 03 and 02 Z06...and I have the completely opposite opinion. Now owning an 06Z06, I notice the 02 and 03 warmed up quicker than the 06...?

RE: 2007 Z06 Question

The heating was a common comment of most of the test magazines and on some of the forums for the early ZO6s: as a weight saving measure the cars had no tranmission tunnel insulation. Later models (yours?) have the insulation and there is a kit to retro install insulation in earlier cars, something I would not do if an owner of one of those earlier models: features like that turn out to be what makes a particular model appealingly "original" years later.
