HELP!!! I have a 2006 ZO6 with a Magnuson charger at 16lb boost LPE lower end build with 874hp 1023torque. Has ATI 10 rib pulley system. On a hard acceleration it pulls the power steering pump shaft out of the pump just enough to jump the belt. went through 2 pumps and a new OEM bkt to figure out what was happening. now the 3rd pump is pulled out 1rib and destroying the belt. Thanks in advance for your help!

 

Welcome to the forum. Sounds like an alignment issue.

 

I becomes an alignment problem if I run the car hard then it pulls the P/S shaft out of the pump. I have replaced the pump 2 times with new OEM pumps from the dealer. After a hard run it will pull the shaft from the pump not the pully from the shaft.

 

How far out of the pump does the shaft come out? It sounds like there's something inside the pump, such as a retaining ring, that's breaking and allowing the shaft to move.

 

About the distance of 1 rib, it will jump and self destruct if you keep driving.

 

Still sounds like something is failing inside the pump that keeps the shaft retained. Probably going to have to disassemble it to see what it is.
