Buying a new C7; used cars too pricey
I currently own a 2007 C6 coupe, love the car. I've been shopping for a used C7 for months. Between the stupid high asking prices on most used Corvettes here in the northeast and the fact that they're sort of giving away new ones, I'm about to pull the trigger on a 2017 Z51 stick coupe, LT2, Nav. I can buy that car for a tick under $60K currently. Why would I pay $53K for a 2015 with similar equipment? That's the pricing that's out there.
I don't quite get it. Are the asking prices on half these used cars $5K+ more than they actually sell for? Because I wouldn't pay more than $48K for a 2015 similar to the Corvette I can buy brand new for $59.5K. I have a trade, so I want to buy from a pro/dealer. I'd never attempt to sell a car privately. I spent a decade in the car business, I know better, I've sold hundreds of pricey cars @ retail, no thanks. Retail buyers (and sellers) can be a face palm. Hey, so can dealers, but whatever. I want a stick shift, so that makes it much harder. I'm told C7 stick production is down to like 25%, the used market is 2/3 auto trans cars. And used Corvettes in the south and west nationally seem more reasonably priced, but it's too hard buying a used car from 1500 miles away when you have a trade. |
Go for a NEW '17. I just bought a new '17 Coupe, A8 for $49,450 and never looked back. The handling is noticeably sharper then my '08 C6 Coupe was too. Consider selling your C7 on eBay, instead of trading. You will get much more then Trade, especially to Canadian buyers who obsess over Vette's. I got $7K selling my C6 to a Canadian, over best Trade. Good luck.

I want a stick, too and I hate the "new" black rims. Narrows my choice a whole lot unless I find a great car and go to the dealer for chrome rims, but that adds $$. |
I saw they came out with a new incentive plan today for 2017s.
