catchcans

I'm thinking of putting an oil catchcan on my new C7. Anyone have any experience with this type of device? Thoughts.... is there a significant benefit?

Welcome to the forum.

Why? Are you going to modify a great deal?

Why.... because I want this car to last long into the future... and I have heard that there are issuses with oil in the system that can be avoided with these catchcan devices. I have recently ordered an Elite Engineering catchcan system. I already have a little oil blasting from the exhaust on startup with only 500 miles on the engine.

I thought catch cans were when you had a high perf engine w/ more than normal blow-by.

Take look at the Singray forum and search for "Why do I need a catchcan?" In part, it's about direct injection not keeping the intake valves clean like port injection does, so the valves coke up after a while, causing a loss in power and reduction in mpg.

How does the catch can remedy this?
