2nd, 4th, 6th Gears Don't Engage All The Time

Hello All,

I have a 2003 C5 ZO6 with a bunch of modifications on it including a Spec III clutch and a short-throw shifter. Most of the time, I can't engage 2nd gear from any other gear, but I can generally engage it as the starting gear when fully stopped. There have also been several times when this happened in 4th and 6th gears. In addition, when I go to reverse, sometimes the car engages into a higher forward gear instead. Some insights on these problems would beVERY appreciated!

Whoa Dude, these old eyes can't read that small script. Had to get out my magnifier! :D
One word, "adjustments". ;)

Starship is right, we're a bunch of old boys here and that fine print is way hard to see. As far as your tranny is concerned, I also have to agree with starship on shift linkage adjusment and maybe bad syncro rings on those gears affected, good luck.

Sorry Guys. I hope this size helps better. Thank you for the advice. I'll have to get under the car and look at the linkage then.

I'm gonna give a "3rd" on the shift linkage adjustment vote here. The Hurst shifter I had on my ol' Mustang had issues just like that; took 3 sets of adjustments to get it just right. Once adjusted, it was a thing 'o beauty.
