AC vents
Hi, Iown a 2000 coupe and I have a problem with the AC blowing through all the vents. I assume it's an electrical thing. I recently had the AC compressor replaced and that's when the vent issue started. I thought I would ask here before taking it back to the mechanic shop. Anyidea as to why this is happening and how it can be fixed?
Thanks, Rick in Laredo, TX. |
RE: AC vents
Hi Rick, under the dash there's an actuator that opens and closes a door on the air box to divert the air to the desired location, floor, bi-level, defrost etc., I believe it's controlled by vacuum that goes through a vacuum canister, from the motor. The actuatorcould either be not functioning, it could be stuck,or may not be getting a vacuum. The selector switch on theAC controls on the dash, controls the actuator. So there's a number of things that could be causing the problem. Since the problem started when you had the compressor replaced, it's possible that a vacuum line could have been knocked off while they were working on the compressor.
