Gas Gauge on 98 C 5

After I drive about an hour or so my gas gauge goes to empty no matter how much is in the tank
Does anyone else have this problem ?
Any idea how to correct it with out taking the tank out ?
Thanks in advance

I vaguely recall there was a service bulletin about bad sending units or something, -- sorry I can't be of more help.

Bubber, I have the same problem from time to time. Someone on here a while back told me to start using only shell gasoline since they have numerous cleaning agents added. Also at every oil change I use a fuel system cleaner, berryman to be exact and I have had very little problems since. ( every now and then I cant get to a shell gas so I use whatever available. )

I recently traded my 94 for an 01. The day I brought it home, this issue popped up (scared the living poo-poo out of me). Anyway I started reading up and someone said "Seafoam" will take care of the problem. So I bought a can and dumped it in the gas tank. I left it setting in there a week or so. Last weekend I took the Corvette on a rather long trip, 1000 miles one way, and guess what? The gauge works like a new one.

It's cheap enough that if it doesn't work you're not out much, but it's likely that it will fix it.

I've also heard Techron additive will work too, but on my 99 Silverado it didn't work and I replaced the sending unit. This was, of course, before I knew about Seafoam. To alleviate the problem use the Shell, Chevron, Texaco fuels. Chevron and Texaco have the Techron in it, Shell has it's own version.
