hard to start

The same day I had my new Corsa system installed the Tech allowed me to start the engine while the car was still on the lift (04 with less than 14k on the clock) The first crank and she died instantly, the second or third crank and she ran fine. Now it seems like it takes 6 tries before she actually starts up. Only other mods are an X pipe and a carbon fiber air intake bridge with the silicone tube into the throttle body. Any ideas of whats going on?

I am not familiar with the '04 model but I do know that the computer receives input data from sensors all over the car, including the exhaust system. It seems to me that your new exhaust system installation has either eliminated one or more sensors or that it has upset the data that the sensors send to the computer. Your computer is now struggling to interpret the skewed inputs. The air flow sensor(s) at the intake could have also been upset.

At this point I would get a code scanner, connect it to the harness and check for trouble codes.

Good luck and let us know what you find!

No sensors have been removed or altered, no codes thrown.

Low fuel pressure

Fuel rail pressure too low.

First test.
Try turning the key to the on position without starting the car, allowing the fuel pump to run. Turn key off, then try starting again.

Second test.
Try cycling key as above 6 times instead of just once (you are boosting fuel pressure this way). Try starting car. If you get a good start after this test I would check for a fuel system leak.

Thanks, I'll try it today when I get home and will let you know if it worked.

Hi DEE VEE Eight...

The first test worked like a charm!!! I waited until the car was cold this morning, turned the key without starting the engine, turned it off and then tried cranking and she took off on the first try.

Glad I could help.

May I suggest that you establish a relationship with a good mechanic that you can trust and ask him/her to check your fuel (injection) system for leaks.

Thanks I'll do that.
