Hi mech, what do you know about the control valve adjustment on C3 power steering?, I rebuilt the valve and the cut sheet with the kit said to adjust the nut at the end of the valve 4 turns in but it's hard to determine where thats suposed to start, any experience with this?

You should probably pm mech to get a faster response. Goodluck[&:]

Thanks Black86vette, I was just reading the forum rules and I see that I'm not supposed to start a thread that way.

Have had limited experience with those valves, most of the time we just replace them. Are you having assist problems?

After I bled the system(I still had both front wheels off the floor) and with the engine at idle, the steering would turn itself slowly to the left, I shut it down and backed the adjustment nut off about one turn, re-started the engine and it stayed centered, when I got the car back on the road the assist did'nt seem quite the same as before the front -end rebuild but I attribute that to all the new tight parts. I think I should leave it as is but am not sure if it's correct. On the road test the steering pulls to the right but I have'nt had an alignment yet and all front and rear suspension & steering components have been replaced.

I believe you are on the right track to reserve judgement til you get a 4 wheel alignment. 4 wheel is very critical on Corvettes because of the independent suspension, particualrly the rear wheel camber adjustments. The control valve type P/S always felt a little looser to me, such as the earlier Vettes and Mustangs and Mid size Fords.

Thanks for your input, I think I'll leave it alone for now and ask the guys at the frame shop about it when I have it aligned, they said they do alot of vetts so I'm hoping for a quality job.
